I've gotta get a new soundcard soon. I've been listening to lossless lately and the flaws of my integrated audio have become even more apparent. I also could use a soundcard for ripping better audio in the first place. I've been thinking about the E-mu 0404M but I think it might suit me better for the future to get something like the 1212M for when I do get a DAC and such things(but it's so much more expensive I might wait to buy it till I actually need it so the price goes down). I also noticed a lot of talk from a few users about the Juli@ soundcard but I can't seem to find the manufacturer's official website on google and I don't know who makes it in the first place. Need Recommendation's and a link to Juli@ manufacturer's site. Also I want to know what the LAN mod or whatever for the 0404m is about. Important stuff bold for short attention spans lol.

I used to have an E-MU 0404, a VERY nice card that I would highly reccomend. I actually sold mine to hembergler, because I was using it for recording but then I wanted to be able to record with my PowerBook so I went for a USB one. But it provides excellent quality, makes even crap headphones come alive. I've never heard of the LAN mod, though.

edit: about the juli@ site...dude, did you even try google? i googled juli@, fourth result was for the "ESI Juli@" card. googled ESI, and there it is . the Juli@ looks really really nice though.

mckickflip:

I'll bring my Juli@ with PC to the Boston meet - I bought on tech spec / price ratio - can't say I believe in "hearing" differences at it's distortion/noise levels but you can give it a listen

certainly RMAA shows the RealTek HD audio in my < 1 yr old gateway desktop computer to be relative crap: 80 dB S/N at best!

OK I've decided against getting the 1212m so I can afford all my interconnects sooner but I still can't decide between the E-mu 0404 and the ESI Juli@. I think I'm still leaning towards the 0404 because it's $60 cheaper on amazon but I still haven't looked around the rest of the net. I noticed the Juli@ has 24bit/192Khz and the 0404 only has 24bit/96Khz; So with the rest of my equipment (I'll be using a Cmoy(opa2132, from ebay) to run my HD-25-SP's off the soundcard and good interconnects (Some home made, some from Headphile)), would it be worth it to go for the Juli@ or should I go for the 0404 and save the rest of the cash for the interconnects and stuff?

BUMP because I still need to decide between the 0404 and the Juli@. Responses please!

edit: I just saw somebody posted a review of these two vs. eachother and the M-audio 7.1 or whatever but responses are still appreciated!

edit: Nevermind it's not a review it's a thread alot like this one but different.

Haha that's my thread I think. The difference between me and you is that I'm using the analogue out, so DAC's are important to me (until I get some really really expensive 2.1 Super amp lol)

You would probabaly want to add the M-Audio Revolution 7.1 to your list too - amazon have it for like $90USD - Apparently it has better driver support than the juli@ and the 0404

Yeah it's your thread I was talking about, and speaking of that I just saw the link to jrrshop who have the 0404 for $99
eek.gif
and the 1212m for only $160!
eek.gif
now it's back on my list probably...

and btw I don't really want an M-audio revolution card. I like the other's much more and I don't need surround sound.

Thought about the M-Audio Audiophile 192 then? Apparently stacks up quite well against the 1212M - I'm waiting on JRR shop to quote me on shipping to aus... hopefully about $30USD
