So,

Today is my birthday, and I head off to work, only to have my boss tell me that I am not working efficiently enough, write me up, and a warning that if I do one small mistake Im terminated from my job.

issues about not having my shirt tucked and forgetting to check off the list of duties at the end of the night.

right after I get the bad news, I go sit outside and ponder how I will pay my bills if I lose my job and a bird craps on me....

im really tired so Im going to get some rest, today was a really bad day

Yeah, we have a senior Director at my firm that always has half his shirt untucked. He's known for it. He's also known as one of the best structural engineers in the world right now, so THAT'S what he's judged on...

Don’t sweat it man oppression builds character.

Being fired isn’t any big deal. I know I’m experienced- actually I’m due myself.

Up to a point I was fired from half my jobs but I’m getting better.

Here’s a tip learned from experience- don’t sit on your boss’ desk put your feet on his chair and tell him to **** off. Not a good career move.

It’s all a game so don’t sweat the small things and if it makes your boss happy tuck in your shirt.

How'd all those asterics get there??

Oh Yeah Happy Birthday!

I was going to post on you B'day thread, but I think it would be better if I do it here. Just keep your spirits high and take an opportunity to analize your work attitude and see if you have made mistakes or your boss is an a**hole. Fish for another job and never let those morons grind you down. And happy birthday.

Happy birthday RnB180!. Try to sleep more and have confidence in yourself. The world belongs to the strong ones, not the weak. One door opens other ones. All that happens around you, it is part of your development thru this dimension. Try not to collide with other souls and write down in a notepad, all your boss thoughts. Categorize it and scratch out them, while you do it. Don’t do more than you are suppose to do, but not less neither. Keep the balance. It's all about the balance. Remember always that. Enjoy the rest of your day. The world is yours!

Guess, what? Polish up that resume, an start job hunting. Your employer is just looking for an excuse to fire you. They want to downsize, but don't want to pay severence or unemployment. (which is bullsh!t, since the state pays).

In California, you cannot fire a full time employee without good reason. They have to give prior warning (which is what they are doing.).

If you want to fight for your job (I personally wouldn't), read through that employee hand book thoroughly.

Do they have a dress code that mentions tucking your shirt in? (although they all keep this one vague on purpose, with the whole "unkempt" thing.)

Seriously, many many employers try to motivate by fear. Make you afraid of loosing your job. F#CK THAT!

This is your life. Don't let any employer make you cower in fear. If they make you feel this way, get the hell out of there. There are better things you can do with your life.

BTW, your TPS report is due tomorrow at noon.

Yep, I am a "boss", the "man", whatever. I fired two people last week and it was the culmination of months of documentation. Not to mention, these two were the consistently late to work, two hour lunch sort.

You have much more power than you realize. Mind your buisiness and it should be difficult to terminate you. In fact the ultimate revenge is yours by not giving them the chance. Remember, you manage your boss just as much as she manages you. If she is a hard arse, tow the line, and it will be much easier for you.

And Wood is right, find another job man! If you are a good employee that is.

Exactly. You have to well document an employee's difficulty in attaining their job responsibilities; it is often less difficult to compensate for the employee's lack of productivity than to spend a half year document enough occurences needed for termination.

In any case, it's a reasonable request to ask for your job responsibilities list. As long as you satisfy those and show up for work, you're golden.

Good luck!

there really isn't much for me to say that others have said already, but good luck whatever you decide on. personally, i'm planning to move from my current job some time next year because i feel like i've been there long enough and it also feels like a dead end. if you're unhappy with your current workplace, maybe it's time to move on. i know it's easier said than done, but it does help if you start planning a long term goal.

oh, and Happy Birthday! you're a Leo, so you are proud and a born leader (if you believe in the Zodiac sort of thing... personally i don't really, but i'm a Leo as well

) anyway... i'm sure you'll sort things out.
