Probably not something I'm going to attempt to have done anyway, but the concept of re-shelling seemed confusing to me when I assumed all CIEMs were solid body. Now I understand that many are hollow. In the case of solid body ones (where the acrylic/resin completely surrounds the drivers), it would seem like it'd be hard to extract the drivers in their original configuration without damaging them, when breaking through the mass of plastic. Seems like something that could be done, but not without great care.

Has anyone else thought about this? Does this concern make sense, or are the driver configurations usually sturdy enough to withstand some manhandling?

Full fill would in fact make it more difficult to salvage, especially concerning the wires soldered onto the drivers. Can still be done but it is a PITA.
