Hi guys,
would be interesting know our favorite iem driver design.
If you want you can add your favorite model for every specific design.
This poll woud be helpful for our community.
'Cmon let's vote!
I was an Etymotic ER4 user & fan for many years, and had no problems with it until I got more into prog-metal (Dream Theater, Tool, djent stuff) that were heavy (pun intended) on the double-kick bass drums. The Ety BA drivers struggled to keep up with the speed, and esp. when I began to apply a bit of low end EQ to do the kick drums some justice. I then tried several DD + BA combo IEMs (see my Previous list), all under $500, and realized that DD's could do the speed-bass thing, and the BA's did their jobs above that. I tried a couple DD/BA/Est IEM's but couldn't tell the difference for the $$ difference, so I've settled on DD + BA Ikko OH10, which is magical for under $200.
I voted single DD, and feel the same way when it comes to speakers.
The coherency of single-driver transducers offers a relaxed immediacy that's hard to give up once you take it for granted. Multi-drivers are better for showcasing wow-factor, but the thrill of that usally wears off.
For long listening sessions it's single drivers, no question.
Toss up between DD+BA or DD+BA+EST. Either just depends on how well its implemented. One thing that must always be present is a DD. Current favorites of each are the OG Tea and Moonlight. Followed by the Tea 2 and Up.
