Rashomon - 6/10
I suppose old movies don't really appeal to me.  I thought it was pretty funny and interesting but not really anything else.  Some of the shots were cool.  Maybe as I watch more old films I'll get more out of them, but with modern films as my standard, I just don't see much of the appeal.  I preferred Bad Day at Black Rock, a completely different film but probably the only other film I've seen made in the 1950s.

9. 7/10.

The visuals were absurd. Had I been in a more cockeyed state I may rate it higher; as it stands, I give it big marks for creativity but I deduct points for having a ridonkulously cliche story.

Not my thing, really.

Hahaha.  I thought this was a 9.7/10.  I was like.... wow an awfully negative review for such a high score... and what's the name of the movie???
I didn't like 9 much either.  It's a shame, the trailers made it look awesome.

I really liked the end montage in 127 Hours. There were some really interesting shots throughout the film as well. Not how I expected it to be filmed. Comparison to Black Swan is nonsensical.

and even when i can, movie theaters here have only the most commercial stuff you can imagine. it sucks.

I dont know if you have seen these, but I got 2 great recommendations from the 70s.

The Inlaws (1979)-10/10- Probably the most unexpectedly funny movie I have ever come across
The Hospital (1971)-9/10- A really good black comedy/satire about the incompetencies of hospitals and doctors. Its similar to the also great Network (1976), but The Hospital deals with hospitals instead of the media.

You should skip going to the video store, and get netflix to stream movies instantly. You wont find all of the movies available for streaming, but amazon on demand will usually take care of those.

Over the past week..

The Majestic (2001) - Over Sentimental but a nice Idea and solid acting, 7/10
The Ghost Train (1941) - Flawed in every single way, but who cares about that. 6/10
The Saint (1997) - The Idea had so much more potential, silly plot. 4/10
How To Murder Your Wife (1965) - Very educational, good fun film for TT & the other one. 8/10

megamind - 5/10 dissapointing - usually love this kind of movie

black swan..again...9.5/10  great the first time, great the second time.. if nicole kidman wins best actress for rabbit hole, well, that would be a shame.

the fountain 6.5/10 (another from the same director)  - stunning visuals, good acting, and i understand what he was trying to do.. i really do, but it was just  but the plot was a little too loose and overly symbolic...  this movie is more like watching a really long piece of modern art than watching a movie.. in that sense though it was good i suppose. ;-\

the kings speech - 10/10 - this will win best picture for sure. incredibly well done in every way.  amaaaaaaaazing acting

despicable me - 7/10  pretty ok...better than megamind
