X-Men: First Class (2011): 7/10
 
Dumb fun. An alright reboot of a series that needs rescuing from itself, but not nearly as good a reboot (or film) as...
 
X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014): 8/10
 
Better direction, better characters, better humor, tighter scripting. (Though like this year's other time travel flick Edge of Tomorrow, the conclusion is extremely unsatisfactory in its neatness.) It's got its problems (the fact that it basically rendered large swathes of previous movies in the franchise completely irrelevant is one, the shoddy special effects are another), but this is everything that a summer popcorn flick should be. Not a bad year for movies like this, all things considered.

The "amazing" spider man2: 4/10 it was anything but amazing. I was being forced to watch more than one movie and a music video at the same time...by one movie. This really was just a teen romance, action comedy, and shock horror movie cut together around a big dubstep music video. Some of the choices by the writers or directors...I don't know which were just down right silly. I wouldn't say I hate it...but I have no desire to ever see it again.

The Monuments Men (2014): 4/10
 
An impressive cast and fine art direction does not a good film make--this is a stiff, witless, too-safe, poorly-edited, hand-holding botch of a film that takes an interesting premise and then utterly fails to do anything interesting with it. Zero meaningful characterization, uninspired and insipid voice-over narration, an awful soundtrack, and a complete disinterest in exploring its provocative themes round the picture out--the only reason I can't give it a lower score is because when it does work (as it does on a handful of occasions) it works *incredibly* well--there are some great moments here that seem as if they've been imported from another film entirely. There is a kernel of greatness here--it's just a shame that we only see glimpses of it.

Seeing as how I agree with just about everything else you've said (bolded), maybe I really did give it 3.5 points above what you gave for a few charming performances and moments that made the plane ride more tolerable...

For the most part I thought it was pretty bad. Lots of weird scenes (especially early in the film) that just sort of came and went without much direction or even without setting up anything that isn't set up later or which hadn't already been set up. I also got no sense of the overarching plan, one scene later in the film excluded--we just sort of popped in on characters here and there that were sometimes together and were sometimes apart, without much explanation. The film also had to rely on voice-over narration in a few spots to tell us what was going on and how we should feel--never a point in a film's favor.

I can't remember what the last one I saw was. I think it was The Wolverine, in theaters. I don't often watch movies. That said, that movie was fun to watch from a comic book fan's perspective and pretty much stupid from everyone else's. The last act was absolutely atrocious, though; it was almost so absurd, so eye-crossingly stupid, so incredibly bad, that it was actually a little funny.

Out of the Furnace - 7.5/10
I was originally going to score this a 6/10, right after watching it as I felt it was really slow and shouldn't had lasted as long as it did (script wise).  The next day, I thought about the film a little bit more and, I really liked the PJ theme song as it suits perfectly the films subject matter and tone.  The location and characters hold up well in painting an image of Americana.  The mood and tone pretty consistent, just like the points of view on Americana life that often isn't seen nor on front page news.  Having a younger sibling, I can empathize with Bale's character and would've easily chosen the same road of justice and damnation.

The Lego Movie: 9/10. Easily the best animated movie of the year. I really loved how the movie appealed to anyone who is a fan of Lego, young or old.

... MARTIN LAWRENCE dude, the movie I was talking about was a Kung Fu [using the term lossely here] Movie, Flying knees is pretty much the ENTIRE movie... a Martin Lawrence film won't have all the awesome ness of Tony Jaa's FLYING KNEES 
 
that and the comedic Cop is a funny guy, even his face is funny and his voice is even funnier. And Buy funny I mean he just... he just works so well as the Comedic relief guy! I love watching him on screen xD 
 
BUT FLYING KNEES pretty much makes the film for me lol 
 
saw Transformers 4... it was terrible... Michael Bay needs to be  shot in the face already :/
