Rank the IEM's you've heard

I’m a believer. I’ve had the DX300 Max for about 4 days and it is superb. Very much on par or exceeding my WM1Z + Cayin C8 combo. I’m flying cross-country with it later this week and actually looking forward to the flight because of it.
I just noticed that you bought the Acoustic research ar-m2. How do you compare the M2 with Ibasso DX300 Max? Please go into detail. Thank you!

i am an extremely poor describer of sound. I’ve only had the AR-M2 for less than a day, but it is quite impressive. Seems to be a mini-DX300 Max. AR has quite of but if power and the UI is really simplified and intuitive. Fairly neutral to slightly bright which I like. Amazing little player really. I think the DX300 Max’s batteries are larger than the AR-M2.

During my business trip to Ukraine this week, I stopped by the ambient acoustic lab, and tried their flagship model - the mad 24 iem which has 24 BA drivers per ear. I really liked it and bought it.
It has a reference sound and it has top-notch performance in all categories.
I have a Sony ier z1r and it will be good alternative for me.

As it stands but this definitely changes week to week for various reasons (except 1 & 2). Mostly basing on a mix of listening pleasure and frequency of use - Zen for example would have been at the bottom of the list only a few weeks ago, it is now in 3rd place as I've grown fond again lately and listen every morning while out walking. Number 1 and 2 are currently undisputed and I can't see them moving based on my collection, both offering an incredible listening experience for all genres I listen to.

  1. Traillii
  2. IE900
  3. Zen
  4. MEST MKII (sits in a volatile slot and definitely one that can get kicked to the bottom at times... likewise has it's moments where it could go up too)
  5. IER-M9
  6. Isa (this would probably be higher but buds have taken over the listening use case)
  7. SA6
  8. XBA-N3

By the way, if I were to include buds in this list, Fiio EM5 would take the 3rd spot - probably even the top spot if I measured in number of hours listened per week!

One of my favourite pieces of audio gear is a $6 pair of Yoncrow X6 buds. Insane bass response and clarity for a $100 device, let alone $6. Pity buds are generally too big for my ears, fit funny, and start hurting after a while, because I can only imagine how awesome the sound must be going up the ladder.

I have a set of X6 on the way, heard great things about them and look forward to trying. I think they are the mx shell which is slightly bigger than pk shells, have you tried any with pk? I'm amazed at the bang for buck with buds and very much enjoying this new and cheaper rabbit hole!

I didn't realise you get different size shells 😳 Must investigate!

Yep... definitely worth looking at Blur buds for example at the premium end, available in both mx and pk shells - DIY buds so you buy direct via Facebook or Instagram. I've bought two and close to my 3rd :)

Just ordered one of the below, huge praise in the bud world and apparently the bell format of shells are very compact. The black option with no mic is the one to go for.
