Rank the Headphones that You Own.

I have both, Hugo2 and Yggdrasil and for me the Yggdrasil is better. It sound more smooth, detailled and analogic compared to the Hugo2.
I compared both with 2 Utopia with the same Lazuli cable.

Chord has sold a lot of more Hugo2 than Schitt has built Yggdrasil. Normal that you find more Hugo2 on the sale.

What amp are you using? Are you using the amp with the hugo2 as well? I haven't had a chance to listen to yggy. I did hear the ragnarock 2 and liked it as an amp. A new dac other than chord is not in the books for me right now as I am using an mscaler and to get the best from it you need to use a chord dac. I never would have believed the difference that the mscaler makes if I didn't hear it for myself.

Okay, my frequently evolving headphone list, in its current rankings,

1) ZMF Vérité, the speed, resolution and macr/micro detail of the Utopia, with better bass, intonation, and headstage.

2) ZMF Aeolus, what the HD650 wants to be when it grows up.

3) HD650, debating selling them (for the third time)...

Gone: Abyss 1266 OG, Utopia, Clear, ZMF Autuer, and Ether 2.
Wow! Did the Aeolus, dethrone the Autuer? I think I am going to have to take my HD650 out of storage, and put them in the rotation, until I get my Aeolus. . .

I have the viva egoista 845. I have first compared the DAC of the Hugo2 with the Yggdrasil, both connected to the Viva audio. I have compared too Hugo2: DAC/AMP from one side and Yggdrasil + viva 845 on the other side.
The only think I can affirm: the Hugo2 as DAC/AMP is realy a very good option to drive easy headphone like Utopia, Clear, Audeze MX4, LCD4 and a lot of others. It is not as good as Yggdrasil + Viva but for the price it is the best solution.

Hi Wes, yes, between the Vérité and Aeolus both with the Universal Pads (Leather and Suede respectively), the Autuers were dethroned. Though if I was able to afford all three I’d never have traded them.

Without EQ (Current Stable)

With EQ (Current Stable)

Fascinating change in rank for the Senn HD 800s. Also ZMF recently on my radar, so interesting to see how stable their Classics are at the top 2.

Thanks. To me the HD 800 family was just soo far off in stock tuning compared to my preferences that I couldn't listen to it. After a journey through all the variants, and piles of amps/dacs, I finally tried EQ with it and it was nothing short of transformative. Even if someone isn't normally a believer in EQ I highly recommend they try it with the HD800 series before they part ways with them. The ZMF classics were a shock to me as to how close a house sound could be to my preferences (best way to describe it is that it sounds like it was tuned by a professional musician). I have a feeling my collection is going to take a hard shift to more ZMF cans.

The ZMF Classic are the gateway drug, to pure ZMF audio bliss!

1. HD600 with Mojo
2. HD600 with Dragonfly Red
3. IE80 with Mojo
4. IE80 with Dragonfly Red
3. HD600
4. IE80

So, the most important part is the headphone itself, definitely!!!

1. Audeze LCD-X (stock)
2. ZMF Vibro Mk II (stock)
3. Kennerton Vali (stock)

From here you could swap the following positions around and I wouldn't argue. Everything has its use and gets head time but since I have to make a numbered list...

4. Final Sonorous III (ZMF universal sheepskin pads)
5. Sennheiser HD600 (Dekoni velour pads)
6. Fostex TH610 (Brainwavz HM5 angled sheepskin pads)
7. Sennheiser Massdrop 58X (Dekoni fenstrated sheepskin pads)
