1. AKG K1000. Superior to all past and current headphones, still all time #1 and in a league of their own.
2. Grado SR325. Dont own anymore but where fine, nothing wrong with them. Didn't fit perfectly well tho.
3. B&O Beoplay H4. Good fr aiplane and work fits well and are lightweight.

I couldn't agree more. Build a serious system around this more than three-decade-old masterpiece, and our modern TOTLs will be ashamed to exist.

I'm even going to listen to Sibelius now in your honor, JuniperFIN from Finland.

Greetings from Brazil

Ranked by SQ / listening pleasure.

Hifiman HE400se (Still looking for the right amp to power these)
Takstar Pro82 (Slight edge over the HI-2050)
Takstar HI-2050 (When the music stops, it's easy to forget you're wearing them)
Koss HV-1

If ranking by comfort, the HI-2050 would be at the top.

New updated ranking

Tier 1:
ESL ES1a

Tier 1.2 (half step behind):
Hifiman HE1000 v1 w/V2 earpads
Audeze LCD3 w/ Dekoni pads
Stax L500 mk2 w/ L700 pads
Sennheiser HD800S

Tier 2:
Hifiman HE500 w/ ZMF perforated leather auteur pads
Stax Lambda Nova Signature
ZMF Eikon (for sale)
Focal Clear w/ Dekoni solid suede pads (sold)

Tier 3:
Sony MDR-7520
Stax 404LE
Sennheiser HD600
Fostex TH600 w/ Lawton African Wenge cups and ZMF Ori pads
AKG K240 Monitor w/ ZMF solid leather auteur pads

Tier 4:
AKG K240 Studio w/ solid leather auteur pads
AKG K7XX

I think for most people tier 3 is the overall sweet spot, and tier 2 is the place where I sometimes wonder while listening if tier 1 is actually worth the extra cost. The HE500 is a strong contest over the HE1000 for my desert island headphone but the LCD3 and ESL ES1A its competitors for desert island. In fact, if I could only have three headphones it would probably be the HE500, LCD3, and ES1A.
