I just bought a set of RS-1s and received them in the mail on Friday. I haven't been able to listen to them quite as much as I would have liked to because I live with my finace and she wants some of my attention too (sheesh!

). I love what they do for male vocalists- I'm enjoying Sting, Steve Earle, REM like never before.

Anyway, listening to these has made me wonder what people
's rank order of Grado's they've heard are. You don't have to own them all, just heard them. I haven't heard the GS1000, PS-1, HF-1, HP-1 or HP-2 so I won't rank them (obviously). But from what I have heard

RS-1 > RS-2 > SR325i > SR80 > iGrado > SR60 > SR225 > SR125.

I think it's surprising that I rank the iGrado higher than the 60, the 225 and the 125, and that I also rank the 80s higher than the 125 and 225. I find the 125s sounded a bit too "empty" to me, and I found the 225s overly dark. Something about the iGrados for the price, they were just a lot of fun. I know a lot ofpeople who enjoy the iGrados have stated their prefernece for the KSC75s (or 35s? - can somoene clarify this for me?), but I haven't been a big fan of Koss headphones, at least not the Porta Pros.

My ranking order:
GS1000 -> RS1 -> SR325i -> SR225 -> SR80 -> SR60

I have never heard the HP1000, PS1, RS2 or HF1.

depends on what I'm plugging them into...

Home rig:
RS1-HF1... end of line, the other two don't even get considered.

trans-portable (PCDP=>small amp):
RS1-HF1-SR60-SR40

Sony D335
RS1.. end of line, the other 3 aren't even in the picture.

Portable MP3 player, on the go:
SR60(with comfy pads)-SR40-end of line, the other two dont even get considered.

Trans-portable Laptop as source, with amp:
HF1-SR60-RS1-SR40

Portable, laptop commute rig on the train, no amp:
Jays IEMs-SR60, the others dont even get considered.

MS2i>MS-1

Unless I really want to have the MS-1 in-your-face, in-the-studio, on-the-stage presentation. Then the soundstage of the MS2i is too great!

Thanks for starting this thread up clutz. I really love the Grado sound and I'm interested to see what people that have Grados rank them as well. Right now I just heard the SR225s from a friend and they were great. I have them on order. congrats on your new RS1s and enjoy

I got to demo the SR60 yesterday and it sounded good to me.

The iGrado is a little darker and to me has better bass. It also has the same amount of detail.

I'm glad people have responded so positively to this thread. I think it would be interesting to get some discussion going from each of the posters as to why they have the rank ordering that they have. Also, if you feel that you like one headphone way more than the next, feel free to add a few greater than symbols (>) as opposed to just one.

Darkvoice 336i: PS-1 > RS-2 > HF-1 > 325i
M^3: PS-1 > 325i > HF-1
SuperMacro IV: HF-1 > 325i

I'm pretty sure I heard a 125 at one point, but not with any of my amps.
