For all the time I have spent out here this may be the biggest storm I have ever seen in the valley. We left out house and it was clear, come back 10 mins later and there is a lake at the end of our drive way, and the flood system is already 6in deep. Insane I say, Insane.

You guys might not get hit, but its a mess over here (Spring Valley/Enterprise). Supposed to be like this tommorow too, which is scary. I kinda want to see the flood system in full effect thought.

Oh so THAT'S a flood system. Would that really protect against a full blown flood? I thought they were just for light rain...

No, when it rains here, it POURS! The flood system here may appear small on the outside, but it is very complex underneath the streets.

Our flood management system here in Phoenix get's overloaded (relatively) quite often. It's common to see a couple feet of water in some intersections after only a couple inches of rain. That said I wish it would happen more often and then we might be able to support the influx of Californians and Midwesterners.

Most people wouldn't anticipate Las Vegas to experience mass flooding like you see in other parts of the world, I assume. It is, in fact, in the middle of a very arid desert.
