I went to radio shack the other day in search for LED's and i came across a radio shack amp. I wonder has anyone on headfi tryed this? is it comparible to a cmoy?

It was only 20$ so it might be worth a listen if its compareible to a cmoy. I might stop up there today and pick on up to try out.

but my question is really, has anyone tried one?

If it's the Boostaroo, then avoid it. Sounds like a cheap walkman turned all the way up.

I had a limited experience with this Radioshack volume amp, but it wasn't that good. I used it to amplify my single 1.5V battery powered MD player and line out of my PCDP. Volume was amplified noticeably louder (2-2.5 times), but there was this noticeable hum and distortion as well (especially bass).

IMHO, spending few more bucks to get go-vibe/home-vibe would be a wiser decision (go-vibe doesn't cost arm and a leg in head-fi standard, but it sure sounds darn impressive).
