What is this Hegel H190? I can get 1 of those and just used my Tidal running straight off of that? Interesting.

Hypothetically yes, although the built-in DAC is a bit uninspiring. I guess there's not much to complain here, it's a unit that's cheaper than a Hugo 2. It can hold you over until you get a stand-alone DAC, of course.

Is the H200 any different?

Seems to be an older model - haven't tried that one. Doesn't seem like it has a DAC.

Might be the same amp circuitry as the H190 but I'm not sure.

How would my Sansui vintage amp AU-717 officially rated at 85w @ 8ohm and 140w @ 4ohm fare with these? Bearing in mind Sansui rated power is always conservative. I have one review which measured 100w @ 8ohm. Worth a try?

I'm very sceptical about old amps, unless all the electrolytic caps have been replaced, bias readjusted, contacts cleaned...

If I understood correctly, all of the great comments and impressions from visitors posted on the first day of SG Canjam were made when listening the SR1a on Schiit VIDAR ($699.00).
It seems that it is a great big little amp!

It's a monoblock right? You need 2 of them so $1400.

I read more about it. You can get 1 for stereo or 2 for monoblock setup. Were they using 1 or 2 units at CanJam?

You can most likely get away with 1 Vidar.

I don't know though as I have fed it 160 Watts into 4 Ohms... 100 Watts into 8 Ohms. That seemed to work just fine.

Maybe try 1 Vidar first and then a second one if you're not happy with the results?

1 Vidar outputs 200 Watts into 4 Ohms and 100 Watts into 8 Ohms which is above what Danny recommends for power. It should be just fine...

Only one was used, to prove the point that you don't need high $$$ investment to get a great sound.
