No, although that was my very first exposure to the SR1a, so if it sounded like this X150.8, I would have still been extremely impressed at that point. I do remember it had this uncanny depth on some vocals -- which I'm still trying to re-experience.

Also, I remember it sounded outstanding straight to the Susvara...

SR1A driven by the Bryston 2.5b3 smokes the 009S.

The SR1A IS A DRAGON! It needs top amp/source to tame this behemoth! :D

Your piggybank will be shivering in fear hehe

Mayby some of the better McIntosh would be a good match.

That's exactly what I plan on using with my setup.

MC202, MC352, MC75 monoblocks, and maybe an MC275. I will report back when I get a chance to try them out.

I need to get the cans first though.

I can't seem to get my priorities straight right now as I am fairly busy with work.

    Hopefully that will change.

    More impressions from Singapore:

    Hi Danny,

Just wanted to share a comment from a potential dealer today - he heard SR1a, and said he seriously thought it was better than the US$55,000 flagship Sennheiser HE-1 headphone system! And this was via a mid-range Lyngdorf class-D integrated amp/DAC!!

Haha, shouldn’t be tough to get a dealer from SG to sell SR1A given its environment

    Nice shot,
I know both the AKG1000 from large scale symphonic classical music recording sessions as monitoring headphones and the Mysphere just from auditioning it briefly.
Both very nice in their own right and TRULY open.

But not the most resolving headphones or deep bass capabale I have heard.

I am looking forward to audtioning the RAAL soon.

Will they do the 33hz Also Sprach Zarathustra cleanly?
    And deep bass organ notes?
Did'nt I read somewhere something about a 36hz limit to the RAAL?
If so they are not for me.
I need the full deep bass from the double bass in a symphony orchestra not less.

But isn't there one possible contender in the truly OPEN and highly resolving headphones category still missing both in your shot and comparisons with the RAAL?

I am thinking of both the orginal Jecklin Float Electrostatic which I still own, and the NEW updated and improved Jecklin Float?

The Jecklin Float has only been mentioned very brifely and in passing here. Why?

I know my old set is /was a bit lacking in deep bass, but midrange and treble were among the best I have ever heard from any headphone.
And as I interpret things the new Float is supposed to be a very clear improvement on the old one.
The German company making it are even labelling it as Wagnertauglich!
A statement which implies both dynamics and capacity to deliver clean deep bass.
    Cheers Controversial Christer

Have great respect for a designer who is willing to say "cut here" on his own work, if you want to tweak it. Can't ask for more support than that.

Will these be at AXPONA? I'd go if there's a chance to hear them.
