RAAL 1995 Immanis

Parsing the most appropriate thread can be tricky sometimes, though. For example, what if your preferred tube combination for the VM1a and the Immanis is different than for, say, the VM1a driving the CA1a? Should you be posting in the VM1a thread, the Immanis thread, or the CA1a thread? And what if an Immanis owner wants to try to figure out the very best amp for the Immanis, which includes that amp in its most optimized state- meaning with the ideal tube set?
Agreed, i would have to post these impressions in all the three threads that are Immanis, Envy and CFA3. In the end it's all coming together.
By the way, i still think that it's a power thing.
Has anyone tested the Immanis on a TOTL amp that has (way) less power and loved it (MK465 maybe)? Sorry, i'm again driving the thread into the amp category, i know. 🤷‍♂️

Me: *Googles "k50 streamer"* - *Antipodes Kala 50 G4 pops up* - *Looks at the price, closes the tab*. OK! Definitely don't need that anytime soon!

I have 0 authority to police this thread lol and I'm not trying to. Obviously impressions of the Immanis with any amp is welcome and helpful. We just went a few pages of strictly amp talk that had nothing to do with the Immanis. Many often complain about how the Susvara thread is all amp talk (or used to, it's not as active of a thread now with the Unveiled and Immanis), so was just proactively acknowledging things swaying that way here. Carry on. :)

Also, to that end, separate point.. could be cool for someone to start up a summit-fi amp comparison thread.. I don't have the experience to as I'm more of a set and forget it type of person rather than constant swapping out.. but could be useful for someone else to.

Says the man with the Superman icon!

I agree, allthough there have been recurring amp discussions in the Susvara thread which just went on a loop. Surely we don't want that to happen. But i don't think we have completely "solved" the Immanis yet. Maybe mostly, but not as perfectly solved as the OG Sus. That needs time and a lot of impressions from a lot of people with a lot of expensive gear...

Lol.

And yea, I think that's a good point regarding product maturity. And again, I'm all for amp talk that includes* actual impressions or conversation around pairing with the Immanis. :)

Just curious if anyone here also like to listen asian songs with Immanis?

Around 90% or more from all of my playlist consist of female voice, and some of them are Asian music. For Chinese, I like Susan Wong, Rainie Yang, and some not so famous singer such Xiao Yuan, 2V1G (2 Voice 1 guitar), and Mona. For japanese I like singers such Sachiyo, YUI, and Ayaka Lida. Also Singaporean like Stefanie Sun and Korean like Winterplay.

At first I thought Immanis would be too "raw" and dry for these kind of recordings. Well, with solid state amp, it is. However tube amp like Envy (with the right tube and right dac) really changed my mind. Immanis can reveal the sweet and "flowy" feeling nicely from these songs. Immanis may sound too raw (in bad way) or too dry, only if the chain told Immanis to do so.

I can imagine, if I have to buy TOTL headphones blind buy, based on these asian genre that I listen, people will suggest me Susvara Unveiled strongly rather than Immanis. I much prefer Immanis than Sus Uv in reality though.

no way to discuss the immanis and recommend the Immanis and review the immanis without a very thorough discussion of amps and to a lesser extent DAC's...we are dealing with a HP at such a high level that how we drive it becomes of utmost importance and it is tough to compare without discussing the amp you use etc

I just bought 2 DSD albums of Jacintha, who is asian, Indonesian? born singer or jazz singer. Her voice and the band with Immanis are gorgeous imo. This is not world music or asian ethnic music, but mainly american standards. Anyhow great entertaning music I think.

Yes, she has beautiful voice! She is actually Singaporean, but also famous in Indonesia, especially for people that into jazz song.

Some Indonesian singers that I like such Isyana Sarasvati and Sierra Soetedjo (Well, I'm about to say NIKI as well, but her song recorded in US).

Interesting. Maybe it has to do that you already have a very good chain for the Immanis when it comes to female vocals. So a softer and less explosive chain certainly helps here and won't have too much downsides because it softened up too much.
I also highly suspect that it's because of the resolution advantage. The Immanis just brings out more details than any other planar, so the micro details and texture will be more realistic, even if the vocals themselves won't be as seductive, rich and intimate.
Yes, i would recommend a Susvara Unveiled over the Immanis for female vocals, but in the end that's only someones opinion.

Just to be clear on my end, I have never disagreed here. I was specifically referencing amp talk completely devoid of relevance to the Immanis, like much of the AIC/Envy debate, which is why I pivoted the convo back to my thread. Obviously discussing amps/pairings for any headphones in any thread makes sense. :)

Tbf it was from the beginning a debate about how Immanis performs on AIC-10 compared to Envy.

I'm very aware.. and then turned into a two page AIC vs. Envy debate lol. Again, that's why I recommended the pivot, which I think was very appropriate.

Daftpunk - Motherboard (Electronica)

Sheer speed and Detail, not forced but in abundance, nothing smeared - an uncanny ability to float sounds amongst a busy soundscape - Thank you Immanis that was perfect.
