RAAL 1995 Immanis

Just to name a lot of the amps I’ve heard it on (Some not more than just briefly):
WA23 Luna, WA24, ZMF Aegis, Felix Envy, SAEQ Armageddon, Egoista 2A3, RSA B-21 Raider, Cayin Soul 170HA, Feliks Envy 25th Anniversary Edition, VM-1A, Luxman P-750 mk2, Zahl HM-1, Holo Bliss, Cavalli Liquid Glass, DNA Stellaris.
Whoa so many amps! And most are TOTLs too. Which one is your favorite with Immanis? Though I suspect you listened to those amps in different chains so it might not be that simple 😁

Yes, that is quite a few of amps you have heard.
I'd need a lot of notes or I'd get confused when trying to recall how amp X sounded compared to Y.

There's a lot of chat in here about which amp is "best" with Immanis. Putting any doubts about Envy to rest, listening to Pink Floyd The Wall right now with TM300 and Mullard 1593 (which I didn't actually rate / like when rolling with Storm), absolutely stunning. 11/10 all day long. Congrats @Aleksandar R., you've knocked this one out of the park. 👌
I dont have the TM300..I have the lowly ER300 lol and the WE300..both simply phenomenal with the Immanis and my dave/blu2

I could tell you brief impressions of each of them, but in general, I can say I much preferred it on tube amps versus solid state amps. Again, still quite a good pairing with most every one of those solid states I tried, but I felt that tubes just gave the Immanis more body and sonic characteristic that I ended up preferring. I know some prefer it off of solid states, so that’s merely a preferential thing. I really, really liked it off the WA23 which I had previously demoed on three separate occasions when I owned the WA23. Up until I heard it off the Cayin Soul, it probably was my favorite amp. There was a magical characteristic when paired with the Holo May & WA23.

I tried the Cayin 170HA with the Immanis on a few DACs, once in the ZMF room, once in the Bloom Audio room, and once at the Mimic booth at CJ So Cal. Only the ZMF was paired with a decent DAC, as I believe it was paired with the DCS Lina DAC. Each time I was impressed enough, I knew it could only get better when I was pairing it with the Holo May at home.

The ones I really haven’t heard yet that I really want to is the MassKobo 465 and the Riviera AIC-10. I really do want to try it again on the SAEQ Armageddon, but with the Cayin I feel I am not left wanting much more.

Yeah... DACs tend to be often underestimated in their impact on what you hear at the end of the day. :)

Just chiming in here to say, I’ve had a nearly 5 hour stint tonight listening to the Immanis. I don’t want to put them down…

Instrument separation is remarkable.

I also had a 5 hour session on Saturday and had the same feeling, didn't want to put them down 😁 the sound is just addictive and non-fatiguing.

Could this "congested" impression be a result for direct Hsa-1b Raal out giving a bit more with bass frequencies that might change the listening experience?
When using Immanis and Magna, the filter EQ on the HSA-1 should definitely be turned off, because it is intended only for the RAAL SR-1

It's "congested" compared to using Immanis with Interface, connect to headphone out HSA-1B. Not congested in term of really collapse of soundstage.
When using Immanis and Magna, the filter EQ on the HSA-1 should definitely be turned off, because it is intended only for the RAAL SR-1

it's sound "weirdly interesting" with direct output. Dark, a bit congested, but still fast and very punchy. Sound much more balance through normal headphone out + Interface.

It’s post like these & @Kiats private conversation feedback that’s making me decide secretly what I wanna offload to fund an Immanis!! Prob is I’m so Staxed that’ll be a massive cutover.

Yes, the baffle compensation should be off. I was just wondering if the direct out of Hsa-1b differs in sound quality (slightly) compared to Raal transformer taken out from XLR out for other headphones.

you'll have plenty of time to offload since the lead time is a bit long. But it's so worth it!

Please don't blindly make the decision. You've spent many years investing in stats and they still do things better than Immanis.
