R5, a new Android DAP by Hiby

Any idea of why does R5 produce a "click" sound when jumping to the next songs?

I've only noticed a slight click if the resolution of the song switches (eg if going from a 16/44.1 song to 24/96) or if the player has been paused for a decent amount of time before resuming.

Is yours clicking between every song?

What app are you using to play the songs? Streaming or Local files?

No, my unit clicks just like yours. I'm using hiby music and just local files.

- Noise Free even with my andro 2020
- power is comparable to my Fiio Q5s TC - AM3D THX
- neutral with highly resolving

(better then my dx160)
- Wifi bluetooth strength is Great!
- LDAC good with a bit delay on reciever mode - 160 only sbc aac
- no electrical noise from wifi or bluetooth

bad? smaller keyboard

Did the sample rate number at the top panel change when this happened?

Hello, I would appreciate if you could make a comparison between the R5 Saber and the Dx160, I currently have the Fiio M11 and I want to get one of those 2, but I would like to know your opinion regarding those 2 beautiful DAp's.

: D Greetings

Hello, i will describe as i can

Sound
DX160 more musical dynamic engaging side a bit grainy and harsh at top end
R5s leaning more neutral, natural, slightly more resolving & blacker background

Noise
DX160 is noticeably noisier especially with sensitive IEM, Wifi & Bluetooth also make electrical noise to 3,5 port and less on 4.4
R5s Death Silent even bluetooth or wifi on both output

DX160 wifi reception is very weak, bluetooth reciever mode only supports sbc and aac codec with weak reception and stuttering
R5s no contest winner + ldac support

dx160 more bigger + more vivid screen easy to typing on keyboard ( best in class screen )
R5s smaller adequate screen but not as stellar as 160 display ( tiny keyboard - often typo )

DX160 battery ouch + Hot while using it
R5s Battery life no contest here + cooler

UI : R5s

( FYI i use andro 2020, tin P1, blessing 2, am05 all 4.4 Balanced for comparison )

here's the size comparison between iPhone SE stack to FiiO Q5S TC and HiBy R5 Saber with leather case

Battery life of R5 Saber is incredibly good, i think HiBy perfection in OS Optimization.

Bluetooth Reciever with LDAC 96 codec to my Poco X3 NFC & Samsung S21 Ultra works flawlessly very low latency and almost no delay. Bluetooth range & reception is also excellent! even with leather case 💖

WiFi reception is very good, ever so slightly behind my phone 🐈

Sometimes, when I’m scrolling, or flipping through screens fairly rapidly, for an instant I get what looks like an analogue video signal of static, like you’d see for a sec on an old black and white TV where the signal suddenly goes out. It’s only for a second though. Anyone else experience this?

I've noticed this with mine too - when I'm pressing the screen multiple times in quick succession (like when tapping the MSEB sliders across), the screen seems to do a quick flash of whatever the primary colour of the screen happens to be at that time, then goes back to normal
