R5, a new Android DAP by Hiby

Seems to be DAP thing. I bought the iBasso DX160 before Xmas and ending up returning it as it's BT was shocking, but so was the WiFi. Oh well maybe they can fix it with firmware, but likely a limitation on hardware.
Bluetooth instability here also. It’ll drop momentarily just by picking up the unit. I like everything else about unit but this.

Many posts ago I questioned the same. I was answered that ‘reverse’ is standard orientation for Asian daps. Something to that effect

which is odd because in the Hiby App they are not reversed. so hardware goes one way and software the other. they should add a setting to allow the user to choose how the buttons function.

Got my Meze Rai Solos today. Wow they pair so well with the R5. Mesa and Hiby seem to pair very well as my 99 Classics love it to.

I take it MSEB only applies when using hiby music and not when using Streaming apps .. is there an equalizer option for those.. i have found the Bluetooth and WIFI connection to be more stable on the R5 than the Sony NW-105 and way better than a DX160 which would not be hard

no there is system wide MSEB in the audio settings that works with any app.

Have Hifiman Sundara paired with R5. Have to raise volume to ~80, high gain. Sounds good. However, can anyone tell me why volume needs to be set so high? My iems never above ~40. A basic contrast is obvious to me re difference headphone vs iem volume levels, but I’d appreciate a breakdown. Thanks

Any user guide for filters and what you get from each of them? Thanks
Just try them out and decide which sounds best to you. That's all I did.

Hiby app any way for it to auto update when new albums/tracks or added or do you have to do full scan each time. Seems a bit old fashioned if so and time consuming as I have a lot of tracks on the SD card. May end up using something else that can if not.

Just pulled the trigger on the R5. Which means Hiby are bound to announce a much improved R5 Pro before it arrives.

Can anyone tell me if the Audible app works on the R5? What about podcast apps like Pocket Casts?

Newer phones have no headphone socket & I don't want to use bluetooth or any form of dongle - I'm hoping the R5 will service my listening needs.
