Look again, what Wayne is commenting on is the fact that they appear to have made -17 pairs in two years, i.e. the serial number from 2001 is higher than the pair from 2003.

come to think of it, I should have taken your balanced gilmore just to make the trade even.

but I want you to compare the ATH-L3000 on that amp too so that wouldn't have worked out too well.

Re: Serial numbers

It is possible that one phone was purchased almost immediately it reached the store, while another one, manufactured 2 years earlier, sat in inventory for a couple of years before selling. They don't necessarily get sold to the public in order of serial number.

Possible if the gentleman didn't actually check the year of the headphones and is assuming that they were produced the year he bought them.

How long has R10 been out?

Let's assume 1980, 25 years, that's 500 units.

Could be the demand was higher when the R10 was initially introduced.

But how does the seller know the serial number if the box has not been opened?

I have one on order, and the wait is about 6 months. I was told that Sony limits production to one per month.
