So during my daily fragging in Counter Strike, listening to music, Ten Thousand Fists - Disturbed came on so i decided to crank the volume a bit, then the right channel of my Denon D1000 cut out. I was hoping for the best hoping the wire broke to some sort, after taking the right driver apart, There is continuity from the 3.5mm connector to the wires inside the phones, but no continuity across the positive and negative on the speaker, if my knowledge is right there should always be continuity because the voice coil is an electromagnet. Am I correct? Well warranty is up for sure and after 2000 - 3000 hours of use my right driver has blown, I'm broke, sad with a load of ripped cd's i haven't listened too =[. Is there any repair service offered by Denon or replacement drivers for sale? By the way, I've cranked it more that I did tonight with no problems ugh

Unfortunate that your first post here is about your phones breaking.
I was going to say, "look on the bright side, now you can upgrade", but then I saw that you're broke.

I can't really help, I don't know if Denon offers any service like that, but hope everything works out for you!

Not a bad option if you're broke. The JVC HA-RX700 seems to be built well, it's comfy, it's closed, it's cheap. I found mine free in a box of Froot Loops.

There are some things about the sound of it I don't like, but I feel silly complaining for $35.

You paid $35.00 for a box of Froot Loops?

Yeah, but it was a REALLY big box. The JVC HA-RX700 are full-sized closed headphones and they fit in the bottom with ease.

Best I can suggest is upgrading too JVC's RX700 for $35 shipped. 2000 - 3000 hours sounds like you got your moneys worth out of them anyway...

Thanks for the reply's, I have about a 50 dollar budget atm, either gonna pickup the JVC's or settle for the Grado SR60's. Opinions? I mainly listen to metal/hard rock along with some alternative and bassy rap.

The JVC's man, if you like bass you'll be much happier with the 700's, at least from my experience with them. The SR60's fwir are pretty damn good, and many like them...but at the same time fwir it can be a love or hate relationship, and I'm unsure of their bass output. I listen to tons of rock/metal and have even tried some bass heavy rap on these 700's, they easily put out more bass than I can stand with some eq-ing on my Auzen Forte, great for gaming, and a couple of quick and easy mods can make them sound a little clearer and be a little more comfy (see graphicism's HARX700 mod thread).

For the price they're great, I recently dumped $100 into a set of HA-DX3's from JVC, and while they're really nice, I prefer the sound of the 700's for what I listen to. The 700's have a nice punch to the bass, decent mids and hi's, a very enjoyable pair of headphones imo.

Right on! you'll be very happy with them, I actually sold my D2000s after I heard the 700s. Please share your thoughts once you've had a chance to listen to them for a bit.
