The R-10 cans is very sensitive to the position that you adopt in your head. During the last listening I’m notice that the sound change a lot if you do not put correctly the headphone in your head. The sound transducers are positioned a little forward in the pad, so if you do not put the cans a little behind in your head you will listen a lot of bass-med-bass blooming. But if you use a correctly position you have a perfect balanced sound.

Well, this is the case for absolutely all phones. Kind of obvious. Jan Meier's tips and tricks page even speaks of headphone placement.

Actually, Etymotics are more sensitive to placement than almost any other headphone -- the seal is extremely important for good sound.
