Quiet at last

I turned my amplifier volume up with internal sound and then with an external DAC. The results: The soundcard was audible, noisy and poppy while there was only absolute quiet with the DAC.

What soundcard were you using?

Most soundcards will generate noise of some level or another. But it's usually because of noisy internal computer parts, not the soundcard itself.

I meant the onboard Intel sound. A plug in card should, though, be as vulnerable to EMI. Someone should test to hear if even pricey cards are conduits for noise. I'm DAC from now on.
