Quick spec check before I pull the trigger....

I've been looking around quite a bit for the past couple of weeks and I believe I am ready to purchase. I have used onboard sound forever and am very new to this scene so if I have a glaring problem with this setup please let me know
 
I am a casual gamer, I listen to metal, alt rock, and indie mostly... but i do like hip hop and electronic stuff on occasion.
 
My cart on Amazon currently has the following items in it:
 
Asus Xonar DX
AKG Q701
ModMic
 
Money isn't really an issue, but I feel like (from what I've read) this is pretty reasonable and should be a nice upgrade to what I have.
 
Any thoughts or advice are greatly appreciated.

For the Q701 and Xonar DX, you may also want at least a FiiO E11.

I think I would like to keep it all internal... so it's worth upgrading to the Asus STX?

The Xonar DX (& D1, DS. DSX) does not come with a headphone amplifier and is just not great for driving quality headphones.
So you would need to add a headphone amplifier, like the Fiio E11 ($65) portable headphone amplifier (rechargable battery).
Or buy the Asus Xonar Essence STX ($164).
