Hi,

Just a couple quick noobish questions regarding the 1/4" to RCA cables. I am trying to connect the Resonessence Herus DAC to my Violectric V200 amp and believe I will need a 1/4 to RCA cable to do so?

1. Why do some of the cables include 2 1/4" cables? Will this degrade the sound?

2. Suggestions on any affordable cables under $50 that will suffice?

Thanks in advance.

Was wondering if this would suffice.

  Need a 1/4 to rca, not 3.5mm.

My mistake. I post so much sometimes I mix up little details like this.

Yep, that'll work. Many more options on this search link.

Different 1/4 inch cables have different functions:
a] One unbalanced interconnect.
b] Two unbalanced interconnects.
c] One balanced interconnects.
d] One speaker level cable.

If your cable has two connectors on each end, it's really two cables bonded together. But it could be type {a} or {b}.

Would this work

Yes that will work.

It is a 1/4" stereo (TRS) to RCA cable.

The ones you see with two 1/4" connectors are 1/4" mono (TS) type and are not what you need.

You could within your $50 budget buy a pretty nice 3.5mm to RCA cable, cut off the 3.5mm plug, and solder on a 1/4" plug of your choice.

I did exactly that with a Kimber GQ mini Cu cable, but it was more like $80 if memory serves me, plus the cost of the 1/4" plug:

I own a Herus, it is worthy of a better cable than the Hosa you are looking at.

Another option would be to use a high quality 1/4" male to 3.5mm female adapter, then you can use a 3.5mm to RCA cable and avoid a soldering job.

Companies such as Blue Jeans Cables, or HAVE Inc, will make this cable to your exact specs (length, connectors, etc) for less than $50, using superior parts such as Canare or Neutrik. Thats probably the best way to go in the price range you are looking.
