Hi all,

I did a search but it came up fruitless so I was wondering if anybody can answer these little questions.

Now I have been sucked in to this facinating world I am gonna buy an iMod to go with my new CanAmp and HD650s. I will use this only in the house so I was wondering as the dock line out is disabled what would be the best way to use this iMod in my iPod HiFi aswell for casual music. Just mini-mini is the only thing I can think of but then I'd have to keep changing cables from the top of the iMod, or it is just best to get another iPod for the HiFi and leave the iMod soley for the headphone rig.

Also can the iMod be controlled with the Apple Remote in a universal dock or does the mod affect that? It'll just be sitting in it for show but wanted to know if it can at least just change tracks.

Thanks.

Mini-mini or mini-phono are your main options. As far as I am aware, the iMod doesn't affect any other pins on the dock connector than the lineout, so remote use shouldn't be any problem at all.

First off if you are going to feed an amp with RCA inputs you need a Mini to RCA interconnet. There are many out there who will make you one, with prices from $35 (Blue Jean Cable, not in their website you have to email them on how to order) to the sky is the limit. Since this will be an stationary system I would suggest you get an iPod docking station to keep the iPod charged. I mention this because chances are you will be using some kind of lossless file and due to their size they use more battery than say a file encoded as an MP3 128 kbs. Or for the purest sound just use the battery.

Once you convert the 4th Gen iPod using the iMod you need an amp. Ask Vinnie and he will tell you the technical aspects behind it. So you will also need a Mini to Mini IC to feed the music to your portable amp. The only way around this would be to ask Vinnie to drill the back of the iPod to give you an unbilical line out while retaining the headphone out. This option may no longer be available, you will have to ask Vinnie.
