Questions Regarding Gain, Volume, and Floor Noise

1) Yes

2) At the same position lower on the volume control (say 9:00 o'clock) .... yes. Eventually, given the same amp, the higher gain version would max out and clip sooner (say 1:00 o'clock) allowing the lower gain amp to ultimately match the same maximum volume level with a higher (say 3:00 o'clock) volume control setting. The only exception being, if the lower gain amp didnt have enough available gain to drive the amp to its full output at the volume controls maximum setting.
