Questions Regarding Gain, Volume, and Floor Noise

1. Using the same headphones, is an amp with a higher gain setting more likely to cause audible floor noise than the same amp with a lower gain setting?

2. And using the same headphones, would an amp with higher gain setting be more likely to produce more volume than the same amp with a lower gain setting?

1) Yes

2) At the same position lower on the volume control (say 9:00 o'clock) .... yes. Eventually, given the same amp, the higher gain version would max out and clip sooner (say 1:00 o'clock) allowing the lower gain amp to ultimately match the same maximum volume level with a higher (say 3:00 o'clock) volume control setting. The only exception being, if the lower gain amp didnt have enough available gain to drive the amp to its full output at the volume controls maximum setting.
