First off, I mainly listen to electro (EDM, house, electro, etc), pop, rap, and r&b. Would (modded) Grados be able to fit that bill at all? I would consider myself a basshead. I do like booming bass, but I would rather have it crisp too -- which is what the 80i's apparently deliver.

This is the kind of music I listen to:

I was thinking of going with the Sr-80i and swapping the pads with the yellow sennheiser ones, and then punching little holes in the sennheisers like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKGwCgdYF0s

I would get those ttvp flats, but imo $35 is a complete ripoff for a piece of foam, no matter how much that foam does for the sound quality. I heard that punching holes in the yellow senns is the next best thing for bass response, and that the SR-80i has better base compared to the SR-60i.

So basically, I was wondering if it would be a good idea for me to get the SR-80i's and then mod them with holed yellow senns.

Atm, I own the Klipsch s4s that were highly recommended by cnet...but I don't trust cnet anymore, especially because of how much they suck up to apple. How would the Grados compare to the klipschs? They're bass boosting iems, and so far I've been pretty happy with them.

In addition, I was under the impression that the 80i's don't need to be amped....but apparently they sound terrible unamped? I would rather not have to use an amp, just for conveniences sake.

Btw, my definite budget is $100. If there are options that cost a bit more, $130 is the absolute max.
