Questions Headroom DAC

Also, the Headroom Bithead is a very tiny integrated DAC/headphone amp, though the DAC can only receive signal via USB connection (no coax or toslink).

So it cannot use with iriver H120 right?

Here's an interesting question; Is it possible/acceptable to hook up something like a shure variable attenuator to the line out on the micro without and amp and use it like that?

But if I use the DAC with attenuator, will that poor than iriver > supermicro3? If yes then I think I will get one.
