Hey everybody,

I am considering buying these canal-phones. I've heard great reviews about them. I have a few questions, though.

How comfortable are they?
Are they good for rock music?
Are they better than/just as good as the ATH-FC7's for rock music?
Whats the difference between this
and this?
Just color, or is there actually a reason to buy the more expensive ones?

"S" stands for SILVER while "B" stands for BLACK...I know, I felt like an idiot once someone explained it me too

My advice, dont bother with the Senns-too pricey.
Get the Creative EP-630, better mids, "Y" cable, comfy and half the price. IMO, the best sub $75 IEM on the market and ive used almost evrything thats out there.

So the creative ones are comfortable and sound good with rock music with nice bass? Sounds too good to be true.

*edit*

I just read some reviews about it on amazon. (2) Some guy said pretty much what you said. Do they have good isolation?

I agree completely...not worth buying the cx300s at those prices and even if it were at 40 I'd buy the creatives. I believe buy.com has the cheapest price on them currently, amazon had them at 26 with free shipping but theyre out them and now selling through office depot which charges shipping to put you over 30.

I have both the cx300s and the ep-630s and I prefer the creatives. Others prefer the cx300s, but for the price difference, I don't think the cx300 is worth it.

What's the difference between the two? I wwant some cheap IEMs, nothing fancy, just nothing offensive. The EX-81 have a boom-tweet sort of sound. I'm not sure if I should try one more cheap pair or just wait and buy some Etys.

Riker,

there's less boom and less tweet from the creatives than the sony. For the most part, the cx300 and the creatives sound very very similar. Some songs you can tell a minor difference, other songs you can't tell at all. They look the same, smell the same, so you can imagine they sound pretty much the same...these are cheap consumer headphones, made in china, so anybody expecting that great a difference doesn't really understand the economics of it.

The only problem with the creatives and cx300s for me is the seal...just like the sony's, you need to have a perfect seal to get rid of that tweet, sibilant sound. Etys will seal better by going further into your canals, so you're pretty much guaranteed to not have sibilance really and a more balanced sound.

Its a tough decision to decide between another cheap pair or more upscale ones...for you maybe you ought to try the etys, shure,ue, etc. since you've tried cheap iems and decided they're too offensive. For me I was looking for a casual pair of iems that offer decent isolation and sound so I bought the cheap creatives and I am forgiving of the drawbacks of cheap pairs, that sibilant, boomier sound.

I wouldn't expect a drastic change from the creatives and the sonys...the creatives definitely sound better and less sony like, but both are still cheap canal phones, so if you're looking for that upscale, more refined sound maybe you should go etys. Or give the creatives a shot, seeing that theyre around 27 bucks, and decide if they're not offensive. I'm sure theyre less offensive than the sonys, but only you can decide to what degree.

To me the UE 3's look better than Ety's. They're cheaper, they have ear clips which I like on my EX81s, and they don't have 30db isolation which I think is probably excessive. Would you say they have a reasonably refined sound with no offensive qualities?

Everyone hear talks about the 5's, but I can't afford to buy those and carry them around such that they could be damaged.

Personally, I don't have first hand experience with the Shures, Etys, or UEs. I have researched a lot as I was originally planning on buying either the 5pros or the e4cs. What I hated about the etys was the stupid need to replace filters (15 bucks) every so often.

You can search these forums for comparisons at around the 100 and below price point but just from my memory I believe the superfi 3s are very smooth sounding and can be characterized as more laid back than the etys and possibly more balanced than the shure e2cs. So yes, I believe that they have a non offensive but still refined sound quality. Not sure exactly but I'm sure others can chime in on this.

Wow guys... Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I'm gonna go with the creatives. I really don't want to spend much on headphones. As long as they sound good with rock music. I might get the ATH-FC7's some other time.

Just one more question. Are the KSC-35's worth 30 bucks? I've heard people saying that they are amazing. I don't really plan on getting them, since im going with the creatives, but I'm just wondering how good they are, and if theyre worth that price compared to the 15 bucks for KSC 75s.
