So I'm a newbie here and am about to make my first headphone amp/DAC purchase.  I have decided on the maverick tubemagic D1 plus due to the fact many reviews claim it pairs well with my brand new Sennheiser HD 650's.  My question however is how much of a difference do the upgrades to the D1 plus (two high-end OPA627 OpAmps and one NOS GE 5670W tube) actually make?  because its only an extra $50 which seems like quite a good value.

This was my very first real amp as well, I opted for the upgrade so I couldn't tell you how it sounds without the upgrade but what I can tell you is it is a very sweet amp. I had the A1 with the D2 as well. Very awesome!
