Hi, i am looking for different method to get good sound out of my computer.
I have 2 solution in mind:

1) Get a USB Alien DAC with 1/8 or RCA out to my portable PIMETA
2) Get a Chaintech AV-710 with another DAC (thinking about Number Cruncher)

A) I have a good idea of the price of the second option but was wondering how much people usualy sell their DIY Alien DAC?
If you are building some or have one you are willing to sell you can PM me with the price plus shipping to Canada.

B) Do they usualy come with the USB cable and IC?

C) And lastly do you think ill perceive such an upgrade between my cheap Audigy 24bit Live! and a DAC, i am a complete newbee when it come to CPU as source music.

Oh yeah this is mainly to use with my new HD580 that are on the way.

I don't know anything about the Alien DAC, but regarding question B, you'll probably want to supply your own cables. USB cables are cheap and interconnects are a matter of preference.

Regarding question C, almost anything new would be an upgrade to your SB Live! because has an unfixable resampling problem.

I don't know offhand of any DACs made in Canada, but you're free to import them from the rest of the world.

You might consider using the Wolfson DAC in the AV-710 for now. It's equivalent to a cheap external DAC.
