My copy of windows xp pro seems to be scratched beyond recognition. If I were to acquire an iso online, would I be able to activate it with my legimate Produce Key?

Yes, and Windows would recognize it as a "legitimate" version, but it's still technically illegal.

As long as it's the same version (OEM vs Retail), yes, it's possible. Might be against the EULA though. You can always contact Microsoft and ask them to replace the CD, they might even do it

I think Microsoft makes you pay for copies... argh. My computer crashed yesterday (luckily no lost data) and I got scared. Ironically, it was windows update that was responsible for it.

EDIT: Alright, I have an OEM version I got off newegg... will Microsoft replace it for me? (even if I pay the fees)
