Look at that photo, the HD 580's have two wires. When I went to the Good Guys store, they only had one. I seen photos with two wires all over Ebay. I even seen two wire pictures with the HD 590's.

Was this the original HD 580's or something?

Ok, the first phones pictured aren't hd580s, they are hd600s. Secondly, the cords on both the 600s/580s are the same. Basically, there is one cord that goes from your amp. Then, it splits off into two cords, and those go to each earcup. The 590s, on the other hand, have one cord that goes to one earcup. Then, there is another cord inside the headphone that takes the other channel to the other cup.

You can tell them appart fromt their shape and color as well as wiring. The wring is as described above. The 580s are all plastic and grey, where the 600s have a blue marble plastic frame, with a black metal inner band and grills of the cups. The 590s are tear drop shaped, have black plastic and rounded silver metal covers over the central parts of the drivers.

Oh ok, I don't know why I thought the 580's had one wire, I knew the 590's only have one. I prob was looking at so many Sennheiser's and other headphones I got confused.

The first photo, I got from the JandR.com website. HD 580 link I guess they put the wrong photo up.

Alright well thanks for the clear up.

Ooh, that hoits! It's carbon fiber. It's probably the single most significant difference between the 580 and the 600

Yeah, I've been entertaining the thought of getting the HD-580s for a long time. But I just had to say that I absolutely love that blue marble frame the HD-600s have!!! When I first saw a pic of them I thought, "What's up with those 580's? Are they custom or something? How come they look so cool?"

Of course, if I ever get either of those, it won't be for awhile, at least until I get some sealed phones, a home source, and a decent amp.
