Hello,

I've been lurking around here in search of information, and decided to ask a few quesitons. First, some information on my setup. In the past two months I have been upgrading my (formerly terrible) audio equipment. I have purchased a set of Sennheiser HD-600s, and a Creek OBH-11 headphone amp. I am now looking to upgrade my player, seeing as how the one I have is an old Sony changer from the early 90s.

My budget is flexible, however I would like to keep things under $200 US. Ebay is likely where I will probably turn to make my purchase, and I am not against buying refurbished/used. A model that is seemingly highly spoken of here (by most) is the Denon DCM-370. I was almost set on going out and placing some bids over at Ebay, until I came across this website:

I am most worried about the apparant mechanical problems that no small number of buyers have been having with the tray, in addition to some random tracking problems and "distortion" that has been appeared out of nowhere. Click foward a few pages and you'll likely get an idea of what I mean.

This unit seemed to be highly spoken of (here, at least). If anybody has any further information about their experiences (postitive or negative) or any other models I could persue in the same price range, I would be very appreciative.

In looking for the same thing you are in a CDP, I came across the Harman Kardon FL8380. It's an HDCD 5 disc player available for $200, but I've read bad things about it regarding mechanical problems...

Apparently the DCM-370 is plagued by these too? I'm bidding on one on eBay, so hopefully everything will work out...

I'd be interested in any experiences anyone has with this player as well.

Why don't you take a look at the NAD players. I have the NAD 521 and used to have the older 522. I'm very happy with the sound and quality of the player. Sure its not a Rega or Arcam but its a great player for the price.
