From viewing various photos, it seems most people connect their Portable Amplifier to the Headphone Jack on their DAP. Is this the recommended way?

In reading a post by Ray Samuels, he mentioned that the Amp "should be" connected to the Line-Out on the DAP (not the Headphone Jack)

I am confused... Please guide me

If the DAP have designated Line Out, yes that is the correct way of doing it.

Unfortunately most DAPs nowadays don't even have Line Out anymore. The internal amp technology have developed into a much efficient headphone driver and they are intended for pure portability.

iPods have Line Out, but it need to be tapped using a special dock. Older DAPs specially the iRiver H series have Line Outs in the form of 3.5mm jacks - similar to most Portable Disc Player. 99% of newer DAPs don't have Line Out.

IMO, amping the Headphone out is the last resort if the DAP driving power is not enough to work inefficient headphones.
