New here and wondering why the iPod dock connectors ( the thing that plugs into the iPod and then the amp) costs more than the amp.

I was reading that the Go Vibe V5 is now on sale for $55, yet those connectors, at least the ones mentioned on head fi, are more expensive.

Am I missing something? Is there a source for these connectors that isn't upscale and people just don't use the cheaper ones?

They don't sell the connectors at the Apple store, cause I checked.

your not missing anything, the really high end connectors are just art, some think they are worth the price, some dont, some think they sound better, some dont... SIK IPOD doc connectors are $25.00 so you dont have to pay more than that if you want to see how much of an improvement coming Line out makes.. and it is a huge difference, that is really the point of the cable.. just bypassing the headphone amp in the IPOD.
