Can someone tell me if you click the 3 waves at the top of the app where the current song is playing if it shows hi-res lossless when playing a hi-res lossless song?

as you can see in the image below, mine doesn't show hi-res lossless, but the sample rate seems to be correct. I could've sworn it used to say it there, but I might just be thinking of my iPhone.

It shows up on my computer.

i am not able to read that, but you're saying that that says hi-ress lossless right above the sample rate?

If you do a translation of that text it says “High Quality Settings” which would seem to be essentially what you are seeing not a statement about the file type.

Not sure how long you have been using it but Apple Music on PC is known for being pretty poorly implemented.

I have tried it several times since it was launched and uninstalled it the same day every time because it was so frustrating to use.

It would not surprise me if a simple little feature like that was buggy.

Last time I tried it there was no way to implement an “Exclusive Mode” and email notification etc would all ping through on top of the music.

I use Qobuz as well as Apple Music just to be able to have a proper functioning app on my PC despite that I like Apple Music just fine on every other device.

I don’t understand. The image you posted does show hi-res lossless. It specifically states “lossless” and 24-bit 96kHz is hi-res. Technically, anything higher than 16bit is hi-res and/or any sample rate higher than 48kHz is hi-res.

Ah, I see. I was going by your statement “as you can see in the image below” but the image you posted did show hi-res lossless.

so Qobuz is an overlay to Apple Music? Im assuming it also intergrates your local library as well? Does it allow you to rip CDs?

I agree, Apple Music on PC is pretty bad. So many weird quirks and missing features from the iOS version. The worst change has been ripping CDs. It used to be really easy through itunes but now you cant do it in Apple Music. You need itunes and then it doesnt actually add to the library. You have to manually add it. Its so awful and frustrating.

Due to the rivalry of Apple and Microsoft, and exclusive mode possibly causing conflicts with other open apps, the Windows app probably is telling Windows not to use exclusive mode (so it's converting to whatever default sound setting you have for the OS). Windows is more than adequate at converting to DVD quality.

Foobar2000 is a popular free audio player on Windows, it can rip CDs.

Qobuz is a streaming service just like Apple Music only it works properly on PC and has a simple Exclusive Mode which is handy to not end up with email pings and so on chiming in over music.

You're right — on some devices, especially iPhones and certain Macs, Apple Music will show “Hi-Res Lossless” directly when playing supported tracks. However, on other platforms (like Android or older macOS versions), it may only show the sample rate and bit depth (e.g., 24-bit/96kHz) without explicitly saying "Hi-Res Lossles

I use Tidal. Qobuz and Apple Music and I can say that Apple Music is inferior to the other two when it comes to PC.
