I have been using the Lavry DA10 with the HD600 and now with the HD800.

I have been pretty happy with using the built in amplifier in the Lavry DA10.

But I wonder, is there anyone who uses the separate headphone amplifier with the Lavry that trounces the built in amp?

If I get a separate amp, hopefully it will be a significant upgrade.

Yes I'm wondering about this too.

I did find these 3 posts by EugeneK:

And I'm guessing that with "a bit more detail" comming from the Auditor, he means a little bit.

As the Auditor and Phonitor are getting reviews as beeing very good amps for the HD800 I'm guessing the answer to your question is no, a seperate amp will not be a significant upgrade.
The built in amp of the DA10 is apparently pretty good, discrete design and neutral (if you can live with the toggle volume switch).
It's thesame amp as is on the the DA11 btw.
