Good afternoon. I just purchased a PSP for my 12 year old son. He is trying to figure out how to put music into the memory stick. The unit did not come with a memory stick adaptor so it can not be put into a card reader. I thought that the adaptor should have come with it but it didn't and Comp USA wants $80 for it. Is there any way to transfer music right from my PC to the PSP without using a card reader?? I would REaLLY appreciate any help since he is driving me NUTS!!
Thanks, Jeff

get a card reader on newegg.com for $10 if you have a mem stick duo to memory stick adapter...

get a standard USB cable for a few bucks and the PSP will show up on my computer as a drive no drivers required

If u have a standard USB cable for digital cameras or misc audioplayers, it should connect the psp right on ur laptop like a jumpdrive. After that it is just drag and drop, although you will need to have a higher capacity memorystick. 512mb is recommended.

Did that but for some odd reason, the computer does not recognize the memory stick. When I click on the drive it keeps asking me to insert a storage device.

You also have to put the PSP in usb connection mode for it to be recognized. Go to the main menu, scroll over to Settings, then USB Connection, then press the X button. It should then show up on your computer.

under the "PSP" file in the memorystick make a file called "MUSIC" all in capital letters. Then just drag and drop mp3 files there. A similar procedure is requred for photo and video so dont panic yet!

Cheers,
