Ok so right now these are the sound settings im using on PowerDVD9 for Blu-ray movies.

Speaker Environment: 6 Speaker.

Output Mode: No Effect.

and i have my X-Fi set to Game Mode + CMSS-3D Headphone.

Are these settings correct to get a proper "virtual" surround from my movies or am i doing it wrong? thanks.

I use PowerDVD9 and CMSS-3D Headphone for movies. I have found 8 channel works best for Blu-ray and 6 channel for DVD's. There is also an advanced audio setting "Full-range speakers are in use." Make sure that "Full-range speakers are in use" is checked.

I suggest Entertainment Mode rather than Game Mode for movies. Your mileage may vary. I suspect a few people here would not use CMSS-3D Headphone at all for movies.

Also in the Blu-ray movie setup make sure the correct sound tack is selected (e.g. not 5.1).

Edit: You could also experiment with Dolby Headphone in PowerDVD and see if you prefer DH to CMSS-3D Headphone.

dolby headphone and cmss3d do the same thing in this situation. they make 5.1 audio in to headphone 3d sound. if you have both try them. for cmss3d make sure the audio in windows control panel is set to 5.1, your x-fi settings are correct (headphones, cmss3d on)

What do you mean by this? Thanks.
