Question about foam tips

My ne7m came with some foam tips and i compressed them to put them in but was able to put them in deep enough without compressing them too. Am i not getting a good seal if i dont compress them and how do i know if a have a good seal?

You should be able to push the compressed foam tips deeper into your ear than the uncompressed tips. If not, then you're likely not getting a good seal (Unless you're going very deep with the uncompressed tips).

How's the bass response? If you're happy with the bass response, you're probably getting at least a somewhat decent seal.

If you are worried about sound isolation the NE7M are known for not doing well in that area.
