These seem to be way better than the usual cheapo 3.5mm stereo jack sockets.

They are Made by Schurter and look yummy

Those look nice, but Farnell has the wrong part # listed. These look like either Schurter 4802.2300 or .2310... grab the data sheet that Farnell has on the page for that part number. Haven't found anyone in the US (yet) stocking these.

Yup, Schurter stock check says Farnell is the only stocking distributor of any of the 4802.23XX series. And checking Schurter's stock, they say they won't ship in the US until 5/15 or 6/1, depending on the specific P/N.

Hmm...seems that I should have studied those measurements
in more detail..DOH!

These sockets are for jack plugs with an 18mm pin!
Standard audio stuff is 14mm!!

...the cheap and nasty end of the spectrum

The only way round it is to use the correct plugs, fine for
custom solutions but a real pain the backside for things like
headphones with molded on plugs.

Sigh...
They look fab sockets, much better than the usual crap.
At a glance, the only solution I can see is too cut off the threaded
fixing portion of the body, and make some sort of custom retainer
for fixing it in place....ah complexification , don't you love it

So I am afraid folks, these are for the extremists only

Just sacrificed one in the name of science

To get a decent fit with 14mm plugs, all of the threaded section needs removing..
This is really not on, as no allowance for thickness of mounting
surface can be allowed for.

As for the fit of the plug itself, this seems OK but not especially
firm.
Contact area is good though.

summary..
Don't bother

Back to trying to fit relatively huge 1/4 inch sockets into a small
enclosure

.
Or use a bigger enclosure
