The improvement will be hugh.
Proper amplification is a must have for the most planars. The quad isn't an exception.
But it plays well with lower sources also.
Will heading to a shop in munich next week to try out some new stuff with the R28 on hand.

The journey never ends. :)
But it has to be reasonable, imo.
Maybe try to hear some Stax if you've never heard any, you never know :) I would say a good Senny (or maybe Focal) or a Stax are your best bets at that point.

I'm open to all kind of good music reproduction. :)

I'll give a chance to all of them.
Could be very interesting to feed a stax amp with an R2R Dac. :L3000:

Unfortunately I broke the left 2.5mm connector on the original cable. It must have been smashed by the lid of the aluminum case I keep my mobile music making setup in :frowning2:Now looking for the best deal for a substitute cable within the EU. Does this one fit, or are there better options? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Monoprice-Monolith-Dual-2-5mm-3-5mm-Headphone-Cable-6ft-Black-Braided-/391984559102?ef_id=CjwKCAiA6vXwBRBKEiwAYE7iS7b6Ob_CjI-jw0IVs5TmvQSTxETyxr3XhFQR4fwG9hqfKgOeh6LHCBoCQFgQAvD_BwE:G:s

I'm not afraid to pull out the Dremel and do a bit of grinding if necessary.

Era has stereo 3.5 mm plugs.
So every 3.5mm dual stereo cable is suitable. :)

The cable you've mentioned is wrong for Era-1.

You've to go for this one, i guess.

Edit.
I forgot to add. ^^

If you want it quick and dirty, try this one:
https://www.amazon.de/MillSO-zusätzlichen-Vergoldeter-Lautsprecher-Kopfhörer-TRS-Stecker-2/dp/B0814Q6T4D?pf_rd_p=85d66d9c-52d5-4f68-bf37-3587644acb16&pd_rd_wg=PD1lz&pf_rd_r=83WZ4JS8K053H4J9RFT8&ref_=pd_gw_cr_simh&pd_rd_w=hQshZ&pd_rd_r=3d1e48c3-24a1-416c-b42b-a0940b50dc76

It might be working, but i don't know for sure.

each technology has its own sound
That's so appealing about headphones these day. We have multiple options to choose from. Nothing wrong in diversity

I still tend to think that electrostats have a particular sound that's not for everybody. It's very... cerebral. Hence the need to listen for yourself :)

Agreed, it's unique in this sense.

I'm kinda new in the headphones world.
Looking into purchasing this pair, but just need to know about the sound leakage.
I know they are open back, but how much do they leak sound?

Can they be used in a small office without me disturbing my colleagues with my music, or will they be able to hear everything I listen to?

The most open backs aren't suitable for your use case.
They got average till high leakage, depending on the volume level.

I'd recommend a good closed back for office use.
If you are looking for planars, take a look at the Audeze LCD2C closed back or Mobius eventually.

Do you have a sound signature you are used to?

Maybe the new Dan Clark Audio Aeon 2 Closed will fit your bill.
For dynamic driver headphones, there're a lot more possibilities.

Thanks for the suggestions. Closed back it is then!

The ones you suggest exceeds my budget, so they are out of the picture :)
The Quads is on sale on a Danish webshop for around 440$ and that's my absolute maximum budget.

I'm not locked on planar at all, but just read that the soundstage is incredible on those.

I only have a couple of iem's, Tin T2 being the best. I guess my sound signature is in the neutral to warm range, but I don't know for sure yet :)
