QUAD ERA-1 Thread

The main fight of the day was: Era-1 vs. Ananda

I would like to anticipate it:
the Era-1 plays for me in a different league.

For me, the Ananda must be defeated in all points, except for the stage.
In all areas, be it the bass, the midtone, or the treble, the Ananda plays, in my ears, compared to the Era-1, distanced, reserved, impotent, and obscured.

Normally shocked, I was on the track:
Eyesdown from the Bonobo album Black Sands, on the voice reproduction of the singer.
What's up with the Hifiman ?!
The voice of the singer sounded so "far away" and unpleasantly unsubstantial that I broke off the comparison on the spot.

The comfort was very mixed.
Because I touched with my ears, the inner surface noticeably.
In the long run that would certainly be an impertinence.

Once again, the quad is the clear winner for me

Sounds like transition shock. I have 8 pairs of headphones and everytime I transfer between them after a long lay-off I get that. Listen to just the Anandas for a week then settle down for a few hours on a weekend and tell us how you feel.

Of course, this phenomenon is known to me.

But I would not overestimate this phenomenon.
Because even the quad, I own only recently.
My last headphones, the TR-X00 Ebony, I had a good year, and was really used to it massively.
When I had the quad at home, it did not take me 10 minutes to realize that it was much more authentic and more detailed.

Anyway, I have to add that I felt the Era1, also much more detailed, in comparison to the Ananda.
That weighs heavily, and for me it's hardly consistent with a transition shock.
In yesterday's comparison, I also indulged in the fun to adjust the Ananda noticeably louder, but also this created advantage, was meaningless...

Ultimately, even the wearing comfort led to the K.O

Next comparison is coming soon:

Aeon Flow open Vs. Era-1

I demo'd the AFO on my journey a half year ago.
When it comes to comfort, there are not many headphones which are better than these.
Soundwise, i preferred the Quad.
But i'll be interested in your thoughts. :)

Quad era-1 vs. Mr. Speaker Aeon Flow open

No doubt, the Aeon Flow Open is a good headphone.
But he just does not meet my taste.
The Era-1 actually seems like made for me.

The Aeon is very well-balanced, and is thus totally stress-free, but often also listless, and not very dynamic.

A very good example is basically the whole album:

Me'Shell Ndegéocello - Cookie: The Anthropological Mixtape

Full of enthusiasm, the quad brings the beats, while the AEON seems to "strum-less" strums itself.
Basically, the quad sounds like in the stadium, as in the club. The Aeon as in the recording studio.

Something important I have learned in this comparison. And that also with the quad, there is some potential for optimization.
At 1khz, the Era-1 sometimes is simply to present.
The bamboo flute in this track is a good example

If you lower this range slightly, the quad wins so warmness.

This picture shows the bamboo flute in action.

As far as wearing comfort is concerned, the AEON is simply divine.
With the Nightowl, the most comfortable Headphone in my opinion.

Regardless, the Era-1 is once again the clear winner for me.

Thanks for your effort.

Exactly the same thing i discovered during my session with the T1.

On the Quad, voices are very close but with an extraordinary liveliness.
With the T1, they're far away in the background compared with the Era.
Its night and day.

Will try out the 1k thing tomorrow. :beerchug:

Last night was still long.

Unbelievable how good it is to lower the Era-1 at 1khz by 1-3db.
This gives the quad a good shot of warmth and serenity.

Move D's - Amazing Discoverys is an excellent example of how well this intervention comes!

The AEON looks though, damn these are fine!

the Final Audio D8000 is on its way
(while the empyrean is coming).

Next Fight: D8000 Vs. Era-1

I guess that will not go well for the quad ...

I'm not sure. Technically will be next to there, but the Final headphones are different animal. They have a very addictive atmosphere. If this catch you, you will be trapped :)
The Empyrean it's just simple a different class. To me the best sounding headphone I ever heard.

How many hours is in your Quad?
Because I noticed the subbase is raised after 100+ hours run (Tinhifi P1 same after 120 hours).
Compared to my Final Pandora 6. Now they are equal in this case, but out of the box and many hours later that was much less in the Quad like in the Final.

More than 100. Definitely
