Qobuz Lossless Streaming Service Thread

Can someone explain what the deal is with the android app and bitperfect. I have two DACs that display input resolution via LED lights, an iFi Zen DAC and a Hidizs S9 Pro. They both correctly indicate 24/192 content when playing from the Qobuz app. Are they false positives?
Depends on the track. I mainly use the Qobuz desktop app and a 24/192 track is extremely rare to find. Can you specify a couple of tracks that are showing as 24/192 for you?

It varies with device, Android version and app. What do you have? If the DACs are indicating 24/192, you are probably OK.

Android 10 and later supports up to 24/192 if the device has the hardware. Many recent DAPs from Fiio, Hiby, Shanling, iBasso and others have a SRC (Sample Rate Conversion) bypass feature as well (although some apps still resample internally). There is also UAPP, which is designed to bypass SRC and USB limitations.

So it should support at least 24/192. Do your DACs correctly follow the track bitrate or do they stay at 24/192 all of the time (Qobuz)? If they are following the track bitrate, I'd say all is well...

They follow the listed bitrate. I read something else today that says current andorid will not resample anything above 16/44 but it does resample 16/44 to 24/48. It's all very confusing.

If your USB DAC says 16/44 then obviously it's not resampling... Agreed that it can be confusing, especially internal audio/speakers vs USB. I believe your phone has an internal DAC for the speakers but no headphone jack, correct?

I noticed today when I went to the Qobuz subscription page that the base price for a monthly plan has dropped to $12.99. Is there any explanation for the price reduction? Competitive pressures? A desperate response to declining subscriber counts? Or a calculated attempt to gain market share? Just curious :smile_phones:

I think increased competition from Amazon and Apple, and prior from Tidal.

Because Apple introduced lossless at no extra charge ($9.99/month), and Amazon responded immediately by folding their HD tier into their standard tier ($7.99/month with Prime).

Both Apple and Amazon can afford to lose a lot of money from their music streaming services. Luckily both of them have no idea what audiophiles appreciate. Hope that alone can keep Qobuz in business :)
