I’m a fan of the IER-Z1R, and I have heard many of the qdc line, though not the VX.

Really this is pretty simple. You going to have people liking the VX better and some will like the IER-Z1R better. We are lucky enough to have choices. But I’m pretty sure folks will be emotionally centered on one or the other. Never just buy off of some recommendations on line but try to hear an IEM before you buy; as there is no substitute. IMO.

Nether sound is correct or “better” but folks gravitate towards a tone. If you have a friend who likes a 360 degree different sound signature then you......you can grasp how different personal tastes can be.

Just a bit more info on qdc's new hybrid IEM the day before launch. I think we should take manufacturer's measurements with a grain of salt, but i think it would sound somewhat similar to qdc's own 8SH (which happens to be my favorite qdc 8 series)
lough translation:
qdc announce new Fusion's measurements and design philosophy, one important thing to note is that we use a proprietary system to left/right channel match our CIEM for the dynamic driver. A very traditional hybrid driver configuration, with BA for mid-high and DD for low.

I can't help but feel that qdc is making the fusion due the massive success of Solaris in china. and maybe they are taking shots at KB's left/right channel comment on headfi.
Thanks for the newsflash and translation. If they are meant to compete against Solaris and sound as good, I will grab them anyway. Having VX already, Fusion may make a nice complement.

Idk my friend..I bought the VX based off of recommendations and impressions and I have zero regrets. There is no way to try it in the United States. It's a safe blind buy, even though it costs so much.

I do expect a flagship hybrid from qdc, it would be better if you wait for that. 'mid-fi' hybrids are generally not that great, even its from qdc.

I'm guessing it's a driver flex vent. If you look at the exploded view of the iem, there are two holes in the piece that houses the DD, so the vent probably allows air behind the DD to allow flex.

Cheers.

2 impression of the qdc Fusion so far.
1st one on crin's subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/inearfidelity/comments/bpnebf/qdc_fusion_promo_sheet/eo19x2w/
the other one on erji.net: http://erji.net/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=2149426&extra=page=1

rough translation of the chinese impression: Bass to lower mid forward, thick and rich. and a bit 'veiled'...

so 2 very different impression so far... best to hold off instead of blind buying.

I will be in Japan sometime around august and hopefully e-e will have the fusion for demo by then.

Official qdc Fusion price $5380($777USD) for uni and $6180($893USD) for custom, that even less than my $1K prediction.

The question I am more interested to find out is whether qdc can keep the DD tuning consistent in custom units. I dont think anyone wants to see an n8 being pulled off here...
