Sony tried to charge me £240!!! for the cable only!! And this is from 2 different companies. The 7520 costs around £400 here and it does not make sense that the cable is half of the cost, I will not accept that, it is CRAZY! They said that it is because the cable uses 'speclialist materialst'. Bullcrap to that manure!
 
So now I am looking for a replacement cable elsewhere, I did a little search regarding the replacement cable for the MDR 7520 and found a few mentions for the V-Moda audio cables (CoilPro). The thing i want to know is does the cable lock in at the bottom of the left cup? Any other cables I should have a look at?

Yes, any 1/8 cable will plug in no problem.

I know it would but the question is would it stay there? I just foresee something that doesnt lock in place (somehow) will fallout at the slight pressure.

Yes, it does stay in just fine. I would not hesitate to try a third party cable.
