do the e2s / westone um1s really sound that bad? i'm also interested in the e1, but they look so damn ugly and are kind of expensive. also, i've heard that the e2s are better than the er6s (mixed comments) but i wanted someone to verify this.

furthermore, do you people think that these in-ear canal phones are better than full-fledged portable headphones of comparable price? (sony v6/7506, d66, px100 etc.)

I've used the westone UM1... I don't think its as bad as everyone says. It is a bit on the bright side though.

It still kills the sony ex70's and most earbuds for that matter.

I did compare the Um1's with ety ER-6. While they were a LOT more comfortable and better fitting, the ER-6 did sound just a tad bit better.

my next upgrade: shure e2c or eggo dd6? such hard decision. the shure isolate sound and block out my noisy dad, bus noises and help sleep. the eggos look good and help my ears in the winter. which one has better sound?

Why would the headband turn to jelly in cold weather? Don't things usually get harder as they get colder?

I just got my eggos myself and they are the most comfy phones i have ever had, and i find myself listening to music that i usually don't like to listen to, but the eggos make it sound so much better i just can't resist

When i have them on mid-volume i can't hear anyone talking to me.

EDIT: for all those who are wondering, they sound nice. it could be my ears (which affects the freq response you hear), or it could be my fit, but these are hands down the best portable phones i have tried. they beat everything else in my sig by twice. and then some more. and their isolation isnt half bad either. all in all, they are the best $79 i have spent in a long time.

as for the differences between the e1 and e2, simple simon says that the e1 is more detailed than the e2, which is the main weakness of the e2.

EDIT EDIT: iirc, someone here bought the westones, tried them, and promptly sent them back. they are (iirc) utter crap compared to the e1s.

EDIT EDIT EDIT: removed some sharp language.

adhoc
HI: How are you? The E2 have plenty of detail when amped with the super mini amp V6.2D. With out the amp I will agree with what you post but with the amp the E2 is a much better earphone and lacks nothing in my opinion.

adhoc - why bother putting an IMO after statements like that? whose opinion would he be giving if not his own? I only qualify a statement like that if I am writing what other people think. otherwise if I wrote it, its what i think.
