Hi,

I have what is probably a silly question re: the requirements to be able to properly utlilise an aptX HD (or LDAC) BT DAC like the EarStudio ES100.

If my bluetooth-enabled phone doesn't support any added wireless audio processing tech such as aptX, aptX HD, or LDAC, does a device like this actually work? My guess is no, and such devices' purpose is to be able to use wired headsets in an otherwise semi-wireless setup where the wire doesn't have to be connected to the phone itself but an independent device instead.

Thanks for your patience!

The device will still connect BT, just not with those trans-coding methods since both ends must have the same trans-coders, it will choose something else like SBC or AAC (lower bandwidth) that both sides would have. BT audio will have at minimum SBC trans-coding I think.
