Which to choose?

Since there are still a few e500 available at discount, it fall within my budget of $200-300. Wanna know whether the extra $100 improves these areas of concern:

After-taste?

I just auditioned a pair of Q-jays and am no liking its signature. Someone compared the Qs vs Superfi5 and said the Qs is like a precised boxer, quick japs and pulls back while the S5' punch, u feel the after-taste. I have to agree with this about the Q-jays. I would prefer more after-taste. Is e500 better in this regard?

Lay-Back

I hear the Q-jays giving me all the instruments, but I don't get excited about them. I want to hear/feel the fast attacks. The Q-jays feels like it "takes its time" to get up there.

E500 HUGE?

One thing I hate about the e500 is the (relatively) humangous plug that comes out of the cans. Somebody have an actual pix of the e500 in someone's ears? wanna see how big the thing really is.

It sounds like you might be the perfect candidate for either the Shure E500PTH or, maybe even the Westone UM2 may suit you better.

I believe Westone UM2 has a good amount of bottom end, and is more aggressive and forward sounding. They also happen to fit very well and have the infamous "light but durable" braided cable.

However, some members here report that the UM2 is prone to sibilance and hiss (due to low impedance).
